Simon Baker, Star of 'The Mentalist,' Faces DUI Charges in Australia

Australian actor Simon Baker, widely recognized for his role in the CBS hit series "The Mentalist," is facing charges related to driving under the influence (DUI) in his home country.

Reports indicate that the 55-year-old actor has been charged with DUI and attempting to drive under the influence. While specific details about the incident are currently scarce, the charges have garnered significant media attention.

Following the conclusion of "The Mentalist" after its shortened seventh season in 2015, Baker transitioned to smaller film projects before making a return to television with the Netflix series "Boy Swallows Universe," which premiered in January.

Beyond his role in "The Mentalist," Baker is known for his work in the CBS series "The Guardian" (2001-2004) and his memorable performance in the 2006 film "The Devil Wears Prada." His contributions to the entertainment industry were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which he received on Valentine's Day in 2013.

Most recently, Baker appeared in the 2023 Australian indie film "Limbo," earning praise from the Los Angeles Times for his "remarkably lived-in" performance. Additionally, Baker is set to direct all episodes of an upcoming TV series adaptation of Emily Perkins' novel "Lioness," as reported by Deadline.

Despite his recent successes, Baker now faces a legal challenge. He is expected to appear in court in Mullumbimby, located in northern New South Wales, on September 4, to address the DUI charges.
