Odunlade Adekola Bio - Did He Really Marry a Second Wife?



Odunlade Adekola is a the veteran Nigerian actor, singer, producer, and director who is regarded as the top force upholding the Yoruba movies in Nigeria. He recently starred in a new movie he produced - titled: " Adebayo Aremu Abere "

The Ogun State-based actor who is known for his comic and dramatic roles in movies, has won a number of prestigious awards in his beautiful career in the entertainment industry, including: The City People Movie Award for Best Actor of the Year (Yoruba); Nigeria Entertainment Award for Best Actor etc. And he is currently the CEO of Odunlade Adekola Film Production, OAFP.


His Biography

Born on December 31, 1978, in Abeokuta Ogun where he was also raised although he is originally from Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State. He acquired his primary and secondary education at St John’s Primary School and St. Peter’s College in Abeokuta respectively.

After he obtained the West African School Certificate Examination, he gained admission into  the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic where he obtained a diploma certificate.

As a boy, Odunlade Adekola have always had the desire for entertainment. Speaking in an interview, the Abeokuta born thespian said he and a friend would often act as jesters whenever there was an anniversary in his local church. And such was the passion, that it propelled him into the entertainment world.


Movie Career

In 1996, Odunlade Adekola began his acting career professionally and also joined the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts practitioners ( ANTAP ) that same year. Over the years, he became a household name mainly in Yoruba movies, and winning the hearts and loyalty of millions of Nigerians.

While, under the guidance of late Nollywood actor and producer: Isola Durojaiye, Odunlade Adekola featured in tons of Yoruba epic and urban movies. He does not only play roles in films, he also writes and produces and has written, directed and produced several Nigerian movies too. With more than 100 movies to his credit, and more than half a dozen awards since 2009.

His recent awards are: The Africa Movie Academy Award as Best Actor of the Year, 2014. He was also nominated for the 2018 African Magic Viewers Choice Awards, AMVCA; alongside actress Rita Dominic, Toyin Abraham, Dakore Akande, and others. He has often been described, alongside fellow actors Femi Adebayo and Muyiwa Ademola, as the “Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymars” of Yoruba movies giving that trio are always at odds over awards – most recently being the City People Movie Awards 2017.

In 2015 Adekola ventured into the music industry
and also established his very own movie production company called Odunlade Adekola Film Production, OAFP.

He is one of the benevolent Nigerian actors who reach out to fans, not just on social media. He once organised a family photo contest on Instagram, where he visited the family who earned the most likes, at Ketu Lagos, with his crew. It was a jolly event and the entire neighbourhood were so delighted to see the famous actor, in flesh.


Controversies

Shortly after he graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in Business Administration, rumors were spread all over the media that the Yoruba movie star was an absentee student and supposedly bought his certificate.

However, he didn’t let the news slide without clapping back and getting the facts straight.


In an interview with the Spice, Adekola responded that despite his celebrity status, he attended lectures, and did assignments and definitely did not buy his certificate.

He later advised aspiring actors to acquire their education first before fame comes knocking, else it would be difficult to go back to school.

So Did He Really Marry A Second Wife?
As customary to being famous, and also lending to the fact that he is from the western part of the Nigeria, scandalous rumors are bound to hit the media.

The veteran actor has been romantically linked to co - actress Eniola Ajao Despite being a husband to his wife, Ruth Adekola and a father of four kids (all boys). The rumor of their relationship sprang from a picture of their movie together titled; New Wife, which surfaced on the internet and had fans speculating on whether the actor really got married to a second wife. But it all later became clear that the responsible and respetable family man and the actress were nothing romantically but only co-workers launching a romantic comedy movie for their fans !



The actress also spoke out too as she debunked the rumor in an interview, saying she has got nothing more than an apprentice - to a master relationship with her boss (Odunlade Adekola).

And for all we know, Odunlade Adekola got married to his lovely wife Ruth in 2003 after dating briefly.
